CyberWoLfman's 3D Chat Review

Peace City 3D Review

3D Chat Name: Peace City / Peace City 3D

Time of visit:

Was in it on Monday, January 2nd, 2006 about 5:30 a.m. (eastern time in the US).

Do you recommend this program to people?

  No.

In its current incarnation, you can't get it to work.  On the visit before this one, things looked interesting, but on my last attempt to use the program, it crashed on me no matter what I did to try to correct the problem.

  This included:.

Turing off sound, music, not letting it download pictures or audio, setting the visibility to 30 and the framerate to 10.  In the Aworld.ini file, setting avatars to 0 as well as the lifeforms so the avatar animations wouldn't show.  Also changed the comic style and ballons to 0.

But, none of this did any good, and my computer is over even the recommended minimum for everything, including over 1 GB of RAM.  If my system can't run the program with all that in it, what chance does the person who has less, and maybe only 512 MB of RAM or less?

So, while I would recommend the program, it seems unusable at this time.

Do they have voice chat?

  No.

Can the program be used for free?

Yes.  It lets people log in as a tourist, a non-paying user, but you can't use the program for more than a minute or so before it crashes.

Cost per year for a full user if they sign up now:

Don't think they have a one year citizenship available right now, but they have the special where you can get three months along with a CD and an audio book with short stories in it for $19.95.  It's called a VR-CD that's made by S@my and there's more information here.

How many people in the program at the time of the visit?

Just me.  But, that may be because the program keeps crashing when people try to use it.

Cost of a world:

Don't think they can sell worlds.  It may be just a galaxy server.

How many worlds are there or were seen in the world list at the time of the visit?

  1.  Peace.

Is there gor (people who are into slavery) stuff there?

No.  Or at least, not in evidence when I was there, last.

If you create your own avatar, can you use it in all the worlds?

  No.

Can you customize the avatars they provide to you for free and use them in all the worlds?

  No.

What about privacy?

The same as any other program that uses the ActiveWorlds engine.  :-(

Can I get a tour of the program?

Yes.  There was mention of getting a VIP tour, but then, you have to get the program to work first, before you can tour it.

Are they fair to everyone, or do they have double standards?

Haven't had much contact with them, yet.

Did you make a Web page for more information on the program?

  No.

What are the people like in this program?

Haven't met any in my last attempt to use the program.

Where's their official Web site?

Here.  But that page won't load anything but the words "core-project" so you should try this page instead.

Are there any specific places you would recommend people visit in this program?

Because the program could not be used without crashing, I was unable to see if there was any cool places to visit, but the last time I was there before this in 2002, there were a few:

  Peace locations at:

33s 14e  Descriptions of the different areas with pictures.

0n 20w  Relaxing and peaceful courtyard.

  1n 31e  DreamTown.

Screenshots of the 3D chat program.

Haven't taken any screenshots, yet.  If they fix the program so it'll work, I may go in and take some picutures, later.

Entertainment in this 3D chat program:

Unable to tell, since I couldn't explore.

Additional comments, if any:

Like I said above, the program seems unusable at this time, so you may want to try downloading another program to use.  If and when they fix the thing so it'll work, I'll let you know.
