Independence Day

I liked the big flying saucers (I'd like to have one, too!  I'd finally be able to get off this mudball!) though they never showed interior shots of them, just of the scout craft and the mothership.  The blowing up of the White House was something I really liked (I once replaced the Windows 95 start-up or 'splash' screen with that picture).  However, the humans were dumber than usual in it.  An example:  The giant saucers are hanging over the cities with no visible means of support (thrusters, attitude jets, whatever) thus giving the impression that they have a gravity polarizer or they're very advanced in telekinesis.  The humans attack, not expecting something as simple as a force-field.  Duh!
